For journalists, podcasters, outdoor publications, and anyone writing about real-people social products. Everything you need to cover Nomatic Atlas accurately is on this page.
Nomatic Atlas is an iOS app for hikers, hunters, anglers, climbers, paddlers, and backcountry skiers who are done scrolling strangers. The product has been in development for nine years across multiple iterations — what ships in the founding beta is what's left after nearly a decade of cuts and rebuilds. It combines a social feed for the people you actually go outside with, groups and activities for trip planning, detailed maps for the outdoors, and Trailhead — an on-device AI assistant. It is built in Utah by NomaticX, founded by two military veterans.
The product started from a simple frustration: the existing outdoor apps optimize for follower counts and strangers' attention. The people who actually share a campsite, a glassing spot, or a beta session don't need a viral feed — they need a place to plan, share, and stay in touch without being treated like inventory.
Nomatic Atlas is being built in public with a small founding-beta community. The TestFlight invite goes out to waitlist members at launch.
