AI TERMS.

These AI Terms apply to the artificial-intelligence features in Nomatic Atlas and are part of our Terms of Service. By using an AI feature you agree to them, and the app may ask you to confirm your acceptance before your first use. If these AI Terms conflict with the Terms of Service on an AI-specific point, these AI Terms control.

• Trailhead is an assistant that runs a language model on your device. It works offline, and your conversations stay on your phone.
• Atlas AI is a cloud assistant, where available, that uses a model provided by Anthropic, PBC and can look up live conditions such as weather, tides, avalanche forecasts, snowpack, surf, and river flow.

AI output is generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or made up, even when it sounds confident. It is not professional advice, and it is not a substitute for official sources, local expertise, training, or your own judgment.

Verify anything important with an authoritative source before you rely on it.

Take extra care, and always confirm with official sources or qualified people, before acting on AI answers about:

• Backcountry travel and avalanche terrain: use the current forecast from your regional avalanche center, and get proper training.
• Weather, lightning, heat, cold, and wildfire: check the National Weather Service and local fire authorities.
• Water crossings, river levels, tides, and surf.
• Navigation: AI is not a map, compass, GPS, or route-finder. Carry real navigation tools and know how to use them.
• Foraging: never eat any wild plant, mushroom, or berry based on anything an AI tells you. Many have deadly look-alikes. Confirm with a local expert.
• Wildlife encounters.
• Medical and first aid: AI is not a doctor. Seek professional care.
• Hunting, fishing, and land-use regulations, permits, seasons, and boundaries: check the managing agency's current rules.

AI features are not an emergency service. In an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number, or use a satellite messenger or personal locator beacon if you're out of cell range. Don't wait on an AI answer.

You use AI features at your own risk. You're responsible for your decisions and their outcomes, including those informed by AI output. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the disclaimers and limitation of liability in the Terms of Service apply to AI features and their output.

• Trailhead: your prompts and answers are processed on your device and are not sent to us. When Trailhead searches the web, looks up a place, or checks conditions, only the search text or coordinates needed for that lookup leave your device.
• Atlas AI: your question, relevant context, and your location (coordinates, place name, and altitude) are sent to our servers and to Anthropic to generate a response. We keep the session in memory only while it runs and discard it shortly after it finishes. Anthropic processes this data as our service provider.
• We don't use your prompts, posts, or photos to train AI models.
• Atlas AI requests are limited per day.

Atlas AI may suggest a draft post. Nothing is published until you review and approve it, and once you publish it, it's your content under the Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.

Don't use AI features to:

• try to get instructions for harming people, wildlife, or property, or for breaking the law;
• bypass safety behavior, extract system prompts, or tamper with the models;
• generate content that violates the Community Guidelines;
• run automated or bulk queries, resell access, or use outputs to train other models.

AI features change often. We'll update these terms when they do. If we make a material change, such as new data sharing, a new AI feature, or changes to the liability terms, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect and may ask you to accept again before you continue using AI features.
